Marvel Rivals is an action-packed, free-to-play, team-based PvP shooter that features a diverse roster of Marvel Rivals characters. Released on December 6, 2024, and developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game is available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.So whether you prefer heroes or villains, Marvel Rivals offers thrilling gameplay and exciting updates, ensuring fans of Marvel Rivals characters always have new adventures to enjoy.
With the launch of Season 1, the game now features 35 characters.
In this game, every character falls into one of three main classes. 1.Duelist (DPS): Duelists are your primary damage dealers, excelling at inflicting high DPS (damage per second) on enemies. Their abilities often focus on offense and mobility, allowing them to quickly eliminate key targets. 2.Vanguard (Tank): Vanguards serve as the team’s frontline protectors. They have high survivability—boasting strong defensive stats or abilities—and are designed to absorb enemy attacks and keep allies safe. 3.Strategist (Support): Strategists specialize in assisting the team through healing, buffing allies, or controlling the battlefield. Their role is to enhance their teammates’ capabilities and disrupt or weaken opponents, rather than focusing on pure offense or defense.
With the launch of Season 1, the game now features 8 characters in Vanguard class, 19 characters in Duelist class, and 8 characters in Strategist class.
In Marvel Rivals, each character possesses a unique set of abilities tailored to their role and playstyle. These abilities are categorized into several types: normal attacks, active abilities (Q, E, Shift and right mouse abilities), passive ability, ultimate ability and team-up abilities.
Each Marvel Rivals character originates from a Marvel comic, with their first appearances marking iconic moments in comic book history. Here's a list of some characters and their debut comics: Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing debuted in Fantastic Four #1 (1961). The Hulk first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #1 (1962). Spider-Man was introduced in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962). Iron Man made his debut in Tales of Suspense #39 (1963). Captain America debuted in Captain America Comics #1 (1941). Black Widow debuted in Tales of Suspense #52 (1964).
Yes, in Marvel Rivals, all characters are free to play. From its launch on December 6, 2024, the game has provided players with access to a diverse roster of characters without any paywalls or unlocking requirements. While the characters themselves are free, the game offers various cosmetic items, such as skins and other visual enhancements, which can be purchased to customize the appearance of your heroes and villains.
In Marvel Rivals, new characters are introduced regularly through seasonal updates. Each season spans approximately three months and is divided into two halves, with a new hero released in each half. This schedule results in a new character being added roughly every six weeks.
